Jim Allenby has a considerable pedigree already for someone who has only been playing first class cricket on regular basis since 2005.

The talented all-rounder was born and brought up in Perth, Australia but began his career with Leicestershire and quickly established himself as one of county cricket's most explosive talents.

He first broke into the Leicestershire first team in 2005, playing a handful of Twenty20 matches, but it was the following year he began to forge his reputation.

Allenby helped Leicestershire lift the Twenty20 Cup in his first full season, hitting 64 off 41 balls including five fours and three sixes in the final against Nottinghamshire to underline his ability to handle the big occasion.

His success in the shortest form of the game led to Leicestershire handing him his championship debut later that summer, which he marked by hitting an unbeaten 103 and 68, and established himself as one of the brightest talents in county cricket.

Since that impressive start to his county career, he has become one of its biggest hitters, hammering 20 sixes during England's domestic Twenty20 competition - the most in the 2009 tournament - which stood comparison with the biggest hitters in world cricket during that year.

He also became the first player in Twenty20 history to claim wickets from four successive deliveries by dismissing Kyle Hogg, Steven Croft, Dominic Cork and Sajid Mahmood against Lancashire in 2008.

After several years at Leicestershire, however, Allenby decided to move to Glamorgan mid-way through the 2009 season, initially on loan and hopes he hopes he can continue to perform consistently and catch the eye of the selectors having made England his home for the last 10 years.
