My closing double bogey at Bay Hill was very
costly… and I’m not talking about money. Of a higher
currency to me at the moment are world ranking points.
Finishing 6th instead of a realistic third actually
moved me back in the rankings to 14th because Chad Campbell leapfrogged
a few of us. But it remains my goal to break into the top 10 this
year and close in on fifth place.
My swing is getting there, however, and I worked
a lot at Bay Hill with Butch Harmon while Tiger Woods also passed
on a couple of tips. They both emphasised the need for me to maintain
my height and not drop my head on the backswing.
Away from tournament golf, it was a pleasure
to be able to play at Seminole for the first time. What a fantastic
course it is and now only California’s Cypress Point is
left on my must-play list… and I already have an open invitation
to go there whenever I want from a friend of Butch’s.
Now I am on my way to Sawgrass for another big
week at The Players’ Championship. The greens were soft
last year, but speaking to Vijay Singh last week and he assures
me it will be running hard and fast this time. It should suit
me fine so I’m looking forward to it.
For those of you who haven’t entered my
new competition - and there are plenty of great prizes to be won
- then do so before The Masters and you could be swinging towards
summer with a new driver.
