Banking On A Barclays Deposit - 07.07.04

I forgot to take my white stick with me to Ireland so consequently couldn’t find where the hole was at the European Open. Obviously, given my lowly finish, I don’t like the new course as much as the older one. One of the few things I discovered in Ireland is that I do not get on with the belly putter. It was an experiment that failed abysmally and I quickly returned to the short stick. Results might not yet show it, but I am hitting the ball very well at the moment. Unfortunately my short game is not as sharp and will need plenty of practice this week on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. The Barclays Scottish Open is one of my favourite events and I usually play well here although I have seen the course in better condition than it is this year. I’ll be going through to Troon on Sunday and plan to play just nine holes a day before next Thursday and the start of my bid to make a cut in a Major for the first time this season. I could steal Tiger Woods’ words and say that I am very close to where I want to be. I definitely feel very good about the way I am swinging it and am very keen to get back into the thick of it. Hopefully everything will be in place by next week and hopefully I will be going to Troon with a new addition to my CV - that of Barclays Scottish Open champion. | |
