Open Championship - Round Two - 16.07.04
Sometimes I do get sick and fed up of being kicked in the teeth by this game.   One under par after two rounds is a long way away from what I should have been at this stage.
I left an awful lot of shots out there so I could have been much better than I am.   It is the first time I have made the cut in a Major this season, but that’s no consolation - I want to be up there not just hanging on to the coat tails of the leaders.
Time after time I gave myself opportunities and time after time I missed them.   When you only miss three greens all day as I did then a one-over-par 72 is unsatisfactory.
The 16th was typical of the way my luck went.  My approach finished in an impossible lie in a greenside bunker.  The only escape was into another bunker and once again the lie was awful.  Out to ten feet and then a missed putt meant a bogey on my card.
I’m just hoping the horse I have a share in with Lee Westwood and Chubby Chandler has more fortune when it runs at Hamilton this evening.
