Open Championship - Round Three - 17.07.04
Whatever happens today, there is only one word that accurately describes my performance at the 133rd Open Championship - disappointing.
I hit the ball very well indeed for two rounds and did not make the most of my opportunities and yesterday did not play well at all.    Nobody plays well in all four rounds, particularly in a Major, but my short game just wasn’t sharp enough to secure the score I needed to keep myself in the hunt.
Hopefully I will be able to shoot a decent score in the wind today and finish as high up the plasterboard as possible.
But it is disappointing to leave here knowing that another Open has gone by and I haven’t been able to feature at the sharp end.  Maybe one of these weeks everything will fall into place.   It’s about time, but the harder I work the harder it is to take when it doesn’t work out as planned.
Maybe a week in Ireland will sort me out and it starts tomorrow at Ronan Keating’s golf day.
