Tour Championship Diary 7.11.03
|
A first-round 74 was not the number I had in mind when I started the round and it was far more than I wanted when I finished. Unfortunately, it was no fewer than I deserved.
To be honest, I didn't play that well and that was frustrating and disappointing. But even though I'm way below where I would have liked to have been, my US Tour Championship is far from over and don't count out a comeback just yet. I know I have to play very well today.
The thing that really threw me - more appropriate would be 'blew me' - was a sudden change in direction in the wind. After two days practising in one wind, it switched 180 degrees for the first round, rendering much of what I'd done before not very helpful.
I hadn't realised just how fast the greens are either and managed to putt the ball off them a couple of times. But to be honest, everything was a struggle and I can't afford any more days like yesterday.
