New Dawn In Land Of Rising Sun  - 15.11.04
It was first at last for me this season at the Visa Taiheiyo Masters in Japan. A win is a win anywhere anytime, but I’m not getting too carried away as I triumphed by six shots in the shadow of Mont Fuji.   I had expected a great deal of myself this year and this triumph has turned a frustrating year into an average one.
At least it is going to fill me with confidence for next season because I know I am heading in the right direction.
We had a very good week in Japan and it is always a pleasure to come to the land of the rising sun.  Perhaps this signals a whole new dawn for my game because I know I am playing as well as ever and can go on to take more of the game’s bigger prizes.
It was also a good week for the ISM stable because my Ryder Cup partner Lee Westwood finished second despite being ill all week and my fellow Portrush member Graeme McDowell a highly creditable sixth.
We let our hair down a little on Sunday night, but the season is not quite yet over for me.  I will be involved in the Nelson Mandela charity event and then Sun City in South Africa.
