Action Starts in Zimbabwe

At long last the cricket has got under way in
Harare! Michael Vaughan and his team have
hit the ground running although you would
hardly say the opposition is a tough one.

It looks from afar that these games are little
more than practice sessions but at least it
gives the players the opportunity to have
some much needed middle practice before
the more serious stuff begins.

The runs have been spread around so far
with Ian Bell making an impressive debut in

the first one dayer, ably supported by the captain. The bowling has looked a little rusty in both games apart from Alex Wharf yesterday where his 4 – 24 helped skittle the hapless hosts for a 102. This was in reply to England’s total of 263 which included a record breaking stand of 120 between Kevin Pietersen and Geraint Jones. Geraint hit 66 off 46 balls whilst Pietersen made 77 at a run a ball.

The tour now moves onto Bulawayo where there are 2 more games to play in the series. Let’s hope for peace and quiet off the field and some English fireworks on it!
