Opening Time For Jones
England will continue with the experiment of playing wicket-keeper Geraint Jones as an opener throughout the one-day series against South Africa.

Jones, known for his fast-scoring stroke play, is relishing the chance to become another key all-rounder in the national set-up.

"Australia’s Adam Gilchriust is the one that the keeper-batsmen are compared to and he’s set a tough benchmark, but I’ll do my best to get as close as I can," said the 28-year-old, part of the strong ISM team in the international fold.

England hope that Jones and Trescothick can forge a strong opening partnership to allow England’s lower-order thumpers to go after the bowling late in an England innings.

"My role is not just to go out there and whack it . I score quickly enough as it is so I just have to be wary and pick the right balls to play the shots to," said Jones.
