Vaughan Ton To No Avail
Michael Vaughan scored a century, but failed to save his England side from defeat against South Africa A.

Vaughan hit more than half his side’s runs as England crashed to 190 all out in their second innings leaving South Africa’s back-up squad needing just 135 for victory.

England move on to Port Elizabeth and this week’s first Test having been defeated for the first time since Sri Lanka managed it a year ago.

It was an embarrassing reverse ahead of a Test series England were quoted as favourites for, but South Africa will have had their confidence lifted after their second team’s triumph over what was expected to be Vaughan’s starting line-up in Port Elizabeth.
