All-rounder Andrew Flintoff will not play in the next two Tests after failing a fitness examination in Australia.
The ISM client was hoping to make a comeback against the Aussies in Adelaide
after a summer hernia operation, but failed to impress the England management during the three-day drawn game against Australia A in Hobart. Flintoff scored 16 runs in two innings and took none for 62 in 10 overs. "Our general opinion is that Andrew is not fit enough to play a Test match," said England skipper Nasser Hussain.
Flintoff has been ruled out for both Adelaide and Perth, but will work on his fitness with the one-day specialists, who are to ravel Down Under next week with a view to playing in the triangular series at the start of December. "It's very disappointing, but hopefully I'll be fully fit again for the fourth and fifth Tests," said Flintoff.
