England Blown Away in Colombo
Sri Lanka swept to a great victory over England in the final Test in Colombo. They won by an innings and 215 runs taking the series 1-0.  England could only manage 148 all out in 68 overs.

Sri Lanka  were jubilant at their victory which was very well deserved.  Once again Murali was in fine form taking 4 more wickets, this included his 100th in Tests at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, the first player to achieve this on a single ground. Fernando and Jayasuriya claimed three and two wickets respectively adding to England's woes.

The England camp were understandably disappointed at the result. "These things happen", said Vaughan, "We came into the game at 0-0 and fully expected a better performance, but it wasn't to be. We simply didn't get enough to put Sri Lanka under any pressure".

England now have to rest and re-group before heading off to the West Indies in early 2004.
