Vaughan Ends Aussie Rule

Michael Vaughan scored his highest ever one-day score to lead England to triumph at last over Australia.

Vaughan hit 86 as England knocked Australia out of the ICC Champions event at Edgbaston - ending five years and 14 successive defeats by the Kangaroos.

The England captain also claimed two wickets and shared in a 140-run partnership with Marcus Trescothick as The Aussies suffered a rare defeat.

“We were outplayed,” said a gracious Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting, who aw his side total 259 for 9 in their 50 overs on a superb wicket in the Midlands. England will now face either Pakistan or the West Indies in Saturday’s final at The Oval.
