Westwood, who was playing alongside Appleby, led the Australian by one stroke with four holes to play but watched Appleby slip into the lead after finding the water at the 17th and being forced to take double bogey. That left Appleby atop the leaderboard of the elite 12 man competition on five under par 139 following his second round 69, while Westwood carded a second consecutive 70 for a halfway total of four under. Goosen and Price were both under par for round two, posting respective scores of 71 and 70 to tie for third place on three under – with Europe’s Number One, Ernie Els, three shots behind those two after a disappointing 74.
European Tour Members Sergio of Garcia of Spain and Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobsen are tenth and 11th with respective halfway totals of seven and nine over par. Courtesy of www.europeantour.com |
