McLardy beats Botes to Nashua Masters title in South Africa
European Challenge Tour Member Andrew McLardy claimed his fourth title on the Sunshine Tour when he won the Nashua Masters at the Wild Coast Sun Country Club. McLardy beat European Tour Member Desvonde Botes by three shots with fellow Challenge Tour Member Titch Moore a further shot behind in a share of third with South African Keith Horne.

McLardy, who finished eighth in the event last year, posted a final round 67 for a 16 under par total of 264 for his first victory in his home country since he won the 2002 Royal Swazi Sun Open.
Botes matched McLardy’s 67 for a four round total of 13 under par 267, while Moore went one better with a last round 66 to move up into a share of third with Horne, who returned a 68.
McLardy had taken a three shot lead into the final round, thanks largely to an excellent third round 65, but looked in danger of surrendering pole position when he bogeyed the short fourth before stumbling to a double bogey six at the fifth.
But the 30 year old fitness fanatic flexed his muscles after that and got back into control with a flawless display, enjoying a particularly successful spell on the course’s four par threes – the sixth, eighth, 11th, and 17th – carding birdies at every one. A birdie three at the 15th simply put the icing on the cake.
