Casey Moves into Ryder Cup Frame |

Paul Casey’s joint sixth place finish in his Masters Tournament debut lifted him into the qualification places for The 35th Ryder Cup Matches for the first time since the Telefonica Open de Madrid last October.

The Englishman earned 156,820 points towards The Ryder Cup European Points List to climb from 11th to ninth in the standings and among the top five players, not already included from The Ryder Cup World Points List. Casey was last within the qualification places after finishing tied second in Madrid
Casey also picked up 15.43 World Ranking Points to move up to sixth in The Ryder Cup World Points List, from which the top five will qualify for The European Team at Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA from September 17-19.
 | Spain’s Sergio Garcia, who will be hoping to make a third appearance in The Ryder Cup Matches, made a move towards automatic qualification after finishing joint fourth with the 2004 European Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer at Augusta National.
Garcia picked up 27 World Ranking Points to move from 16th to ninth in The Ryder Cup World Points List and 236,188 points towards The Ryder Cup European Points List which lifted him from 21st to 12th in that list.
The leading five players from The Ryder Cup World Points List, as of Monday, 23 August, 2004, will qualify for The 2004 European Ryder Cup Team. The leading five players, not otherwise qualified from The Ryder Cup World Points List, from The Ryder Cup European Points List as of Sunday 29, August, 2004, also qualify for the team.
The players currently occupying the ten qualifying places for The 2004 European Ryder Cup Team are: Padraig Harrington, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Darren Clarke, Fredrik Jacobson, Lee Westwood, Brian Davis, Ian Poulter, Raphaël Jacquelin, Paul Casey and Carlos Rodiles.
