Things Go Better for Kids With Westwood and Coca-Cola
Golf ace Lee Westwood is teaming up with Nelson Mandela and Coca-Cola Southern & East Africa in a two-year partnership. The 30-year-old Englishman is to become a playing ambassador for the Nelson Mandela Invitational, a charity golf tournament Westwood won alongside Simon Hobday in South Africa last year.
Together with helping South African children via the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and the Gary Player Foundation, Westwood will work closely with Coca-Cola and their customers to enhance their relationships via the world of golf. Doug Jackson, President of Coca-Cola Southern & East Africa, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Lee to help make a difference in local communities in South Africa. The NMI, of which we are the presenting sponsor, will become an even larger fund-raising event with Lee’s help and endorsement”.
Ryder Cup star Westwood signalled his return to former glories with two victories in four weeks at the end of the 2003 European Tour including the prestigious dunhill links championship at St.Andrews. “My experience at last year’s NMI was life changing. I am committed to making the tournament as successful as possible and bringing not only funds but also commitment to the future of South African kids,” said Westwood. “I am grateful and honoured to carry the baton for the charities and the Coca-Cola family and look forward to making the partnership a success for everyone. South Africa has always been dear to my heart and good to me so I am excited at the prospect of giving back via sport”.
