Poulter links up with Clarke and Westwood
Ian Poulter, one of the favourites to make Bernhard Langer's Ryder Cup team, is joining up with potential team-mates Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and Paul Casey off the course as well as on. Poulter's business arm, CM Sports Marketing, headed by Paul Dunkley, is linking up with Clarke and Westwood's handlers, International Sports Management, in an international marketing agreement announced today.
ISM managing director Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler welcomed the move and the association with the charismatic Poulter to his stable. "Ian is a very exciting and flamboyant player who is destined for a long and distinguished career," he said. "It is a thrill for us all at ISM that we are joining forces with CM Sports Marketing because Ian gets on very well with all our guys. We are looking forward to a successful partnership and also a continuation of the competitive edge in the fashion stakes between himself and Darren".
Poulter, who has won five times in four years on the European Tour and has already represented England in the World Cup and Great Britain and Ireland in the Seve Trophy, also welcomed the initiative. "My profile has grown significantly worldwide over the past 12 months and
I am convinced that this link with ISM will be very beneficial to my global marketing," said Poulter.
The alliance could now see ISM and its associate players provide up to half the European team for this year's Ryder Cup in America.
