Tremendous in Turkey

We were obviously hoping for either Lee Westwood or Danny Willett to come through on the final day at the event ISM promote.
Another excellent Turkish Airlines Open with a winner to match and a great week on the Mediterranean for all concerned.
We were obviously hoping for either Lee Westwood or Danny Willett to come through on the final day at the event ISM promote, but it wasn’t to be as Brooks Koepka became the second first-time winner in a row to win the penultimate event of the Tour’s Race to Dubai.
Danny eventually came home fourth – a fine effort after starting the week in hospital with his wife because of a stomach virus while Lee claimed another top 10 as he continued his strong end to the season. I expect both to feature again this week with the end to the Final Series in Dubai.
Peter Uihlein nearly made the plane to the United Arab Emirates. He needed a last hole eagle in Turkey to move into the top 60 and duly obliged – unfortunately it was with his second ball having lost the first off the tee.
But Peter didn’t leave the course totally dejected as he waited around to cheer his good friend Brooks over the finishing line for the first time.
Alongside Peter on 10 under was Romain Wattel – destined to claim his first Tour title very soon – while the consistent Joost Luiten produced a last round 67 to move into the top 25 with Tommy Fleetwood, Gregory Bourdy and Dave Horsey not far behind.
As well as Dubai featuring heavily this week, the Tour’s Q-School also attracts attention with eight of our players bidding for any of the 25 cards available. We’ll let you know how they got on later in the week, but with three rounds to go it was looking promising for several of them including former US Amateur champion Matt Fitzpatrick.
