Chubby Chandler: Danny Willett's Smiling Steel

Behind Danny Willett's amiable, smiling persona is a steely desire to get to the top.

There's one thing capable of topping a win celebration... and that's making it a double header.

Step forward and take a bow Danny Willett and Ryan Fox who both lifted trophies at the weekend.

Danny fended off an incredible surge by ISM stablemate Matt Fitzpatrick to claim his third European Tour title in Switzerland while Ryan triumphed just over the border in France at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.

Danny jumped into the world's top 25 following his Omega European Masters one-shot win and he belongs there.

He will take some shifting because behind that amiable, smiling persona is a steely desire to get to the top.

Ryan has made a great start to his embryonic career in Europe - showing the world what he is capable of at The Open and then going on to win just his fourth Challenge Tour event.

It is not beyond Ryan's capabilities to be a fully fledged Tour member before the end of this season. It's his first visit to our continent and yet he plays as if he's been here all his life.

Remember his name because one day it could be as famous as that of his All Black legend father Grant.

As for Matt, he's getting better and better and I expect him to follow his fellow Yorkshireman Danny into the winner's enclosure soon.

The main thing that impressed me in Crans was just how comfortable he looked when pushing Danny all the way to the wire.

It's the first time he'd been in the position for such a time yet he looked like he had been coming across the experience week after week.

Matt's rise up the world rankings might not be as spectacular as Danny's at the moment, but I'm sure it will be in what is his rookie year on Tour.
