We are heading towards one of the closest races in Open championship history... and we have two players entering the final furlong with a good shot at lifting the silver claret jug.

Defending St. Andrews champion Louis Oosthuizen sits atop the leaderboard after three rounds and Yorkshire's Danny Willett isn't that far behind as The Open stages a Monday finish for only the second time.

Louis looks very comfortable where he is and Danny won't be fazed by the occasion so hopefully we'll be celebrating in The Jigger this evening one way or another.

We already had one finisher before our last pair headed towards history because major championship debutant Ryan Fox was among the early starters.

What a first Open for the Kiwi as he closed with a 67 in the company of double major winner Bernhard Langer.    Ryan will be a force in the game for many years to come and was a credit to everybody and not least his family who walked every step of the way with him here.

But as one starts his Open career, another finishes it.  Official starter, Ivor Robson, is hanging up his dulcet tones and heading into retirement.   I wish him well.  At least he'll never again have to wait 10 hours to find the nearest point of relief.
