There will be no shortage of players trying to snatch the green jacket off Charl’s back and I expect a typically close finish with plenty of contenders again and ISM clients figuring prominently

It’s Masters time again and what a way to start the major championship season among the azalea, dogwood, rolling hills and all the other things that make Augusta National unique.

Charl Schwartzel heads the field as defending champion and I’m sure he will be there or thereabouts this year again. He’s got a classic swing and he’s a classy guy to match.

There will be no shortage of players trying to snatch the green jacket off Charl’s back and I expect a typically close finish with plenty of contenders again and ISM clients figuring prominently.

We have a strong representation again with current Open champion Darren Clarke ready to burst back on to the big scene, predecessor Louis Oosthuizen boosted by a high finish in Houston, Simon Dyson hoping for a present for his new baby, and Lee Westwood looking to take the next step up.

It’s all set to be a great bet Masters, although to be honest, very few are anything else.

Special mention now to somebody who isn’t here this year, but I’m sure will be very soon. Chris Wood has had more than his fair share of injury problems in the last year, but he’s now back on track and about to march up the world rankings again.

A fantastic final round 64 saw him sprint through the field to finish second in the Sicilian Open and although it seems an age since his Royal Birkdale heroics in The Open, Chris is still only 24 and with a very bright future ahead.

Well done also to Scott Pinckney, one of our growing American stable, who posted a top 20 finish while Matthew Baldwin is turning into a very consistent player. Much more will be heard of both.

There was another strong finish in Africa where Tyrone Ferreira closed with a 66 to claim third place in the Barclays Kenya Open.

Now I’m off down Magnolia Lane and I’ll keep you up to speed with what’s happening throughout the week.
